The CCO of Beam Suntory’s US division is moving across to head the group’s James B Beam Distilling Co ‘brand house’.
Carlo Coppola, who joined the company in 2007, will assume the MD position at the business unit at the start of next month. His new responsibilities, which apply across the Knob Creek, Basil Hayden and Booker’s Bourbon brands as well as Jim Beam, include marketing, pricing and liquid allocation along with “partnering with markets to effectively position the family of brands to consumers globally”.
When contacted by Global Drinks Intel, a group spokesperson said Copolla is replacing Malini Patel at James B Beam. Patel, who has “left the business”, started with Beam Suntory seven years ago, moving up to the unit’s MD at the start of 2020.
Formerly with Allied Domecq, Coppola has been based in the US throughout his time with Jim Beam, becoming CCO in the market two years ago. He will report in to the group’s president of brands, Jessica Spence.
Earlier this month, former Diageo executive Zsoka McDonald returned to the spirits industry, taking up the chief communications officer at Beam Suntory.
