Treasury Wine Estates has teamed up with actor Reece Witherspoon for a new female-focused addition to its portfolio.
Drop of Sunshine has been created in partnership with Candle Media’s Hello Sunshine “multi-channel media company”, which was founded by Witherspoon. The brand will launch in Australia and the US early next year with six varietals; a pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc and prosecco in Australia and a California brut sparkling rosé, Central Coast chardonnay and Central Coast red blend in the US.
While price points were not disclosed, the group described the brand as sitting in wines “premium” segment.
“We partnered with TWE’s … winemakers and global team to create a wine that brings women together so they can share their stories and create meaningful connections,” said Hello Sunshine CEO Sarah Harden. “Drop of Sunshine is the result of a true collaboration, created with care to inspire bright moments of celebration and togetherness.”
Separately, Treasury updated shareholders on its performance in Q1 fiscal 2025 last week. Having booked a return to sales growth in the 12 months to the end of June, the group said that its top line in the quarter to the end of September was up by double digits on the corresponding period in 2024.
While the “momentum” for its flagship Penfolds brand “remains strong, led by Asia and Australia”, Treasury added that its performance in China was “in line with expectations”.
