The US continues to grow in importance for New Zealand's wine industry, with the market playing a dominant role in a record month for exports, according to recent figures.
Data from trade association New Zealand Winegrowers this week shows total shipments in September setting "a new ... [monthly] record", coming in at NZD287m (US$166.7m). The Moving Annual Total (MAT) for the 12 months to the end of September was up 6% year-on-year, hitting an "all-time high" of NZD2.03bn.
Of the main markets, the US and Canada also set new records.
