The average price per bottle of wine rose markedly last year, according to figures released this month, while China's consumption levels continue to fall through the floor.
In its annual report on the wine category, the International Organisation of Vine & Wine noted that consumption in volume terms dipped 1% - to 232m hectolitres - in 2022, while by value eight of the top ten markets were up. Overall exports, meanwhile, hit "the highest figure ever recorded", totalling an estimated EUR37.6bn [US$41.32bn].
