The former head of The Macallan for Edrington has resurfaced at rival William Grant & Sons as its chief brand officer.
Igor Boyadjian spent nine years with Edrington, where he rose to become MD of flagship single malt scotch whisky The Macallan in mid-2019. The executive left the company in March, according to his LinkedIn profile, and thanked Edrington CEO Scott McCroskie – “who believed in me years ago” – in a post on the platform announcing his departure.
Today (4 June), William Grant confirmed that Boyadjian (below) started with the Glenfiddich and The Balvenie single malt owner earlier this week. Details on who he is replacing as chief brand officer were not immediately available.
“Igor assumes responsibility for the global marketing team, working closely with markets and commercial teams to drive clarity, consistency and momentum in how the company’s brands show up across regions and channels,” William Grant said. “He will also lead global brand strategy and marketing execution, ensuring that the ambition for the company’s brands is translated into impact on the ground through close collaboration with markets.”
Boyadjian will also assume a position on William Grant’s executive board alongside CFO Graeme Jenkins and CCO Doug Bagley, who jointly took on the CEO responsibilities at the group late last year when Søren Hagh left after less than two years in post, as reported exclusively by Global Drinks Intel.
