US craft distiller WhistlePig Whiskey has recruited from within the spirits industry for its new CMO and CSO.
The Vermont-based rye whiskey producer has lined up Sarah Long, whose career has included stints with Diageo and Remy Cointreau, to head up the marketing operations. Duffy Sida, meanwhile, will move across from Campari Group to take on the position of chief sales officer.
Following five years with Diageo from 2006 to 2011, Long was CMO of Remy’s US business for four years, leaving in 2020 to assume the same position with Mars Wrigley. Sida transitioned from Constellation Brands’ US wine operations to Campari 14 years ago, rising to become head of the ‘Rare’ division in the US in February of this year.
When contacted by Global Drinks Intel, a spokesperson for the company confirmed that current CMO Jason Newell is “moving to another role” in the business, while CSO Barnaby Hawken left in March to take the same role at non-alcoholic spirits producer Spiritless.
Earlier this month, WhistlePig released its namesake PiggyBack 100 Proof Bourbon to sit alongside its flagship rye whiskey that launched in 2019.
