Rémy Cointreau has hired Gucci veteran Christophe de Pous to head up its operations across the US and Canada.
De Pous (below) joins the Rémy Martin owner following a career in fashion and beauty, most recently with New York clothing & homeware brand Tory Burch. His new employer said de Pous brings “a remarkable blend of strategic vision, brand building expertise and deep understanding of premium consumer markets”.
He replaces Nicolas Beckers, who has reportedly been recruited by EPI’s champagne division as its CEO. EPI owns the Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck champagne brands.
Beckers (below) spent 14 years with Rémy Cointreau, moving up from financial-planning director to CEO of the company’s Greater China division and, since mid-2022, heading up its Americas arm.
De Pous spent eight years at FMCG brand Clarins, the final three and a half as president of global markets. In a similar career progression to Beckers, he spent almost seven years as CEO of fashion house Gucci’s Japan division, before moving to CEO of Gucci Americas.
Commenting on the appointment, the Cointreau liqueur brand owner said: “His international experience and leadership mindset will be invaluable as we continue to elevate our maisons, strengthen our USA and Canada footprint and accelerate our long-term ambitions across this strategic region, which represents a major pillar of our growth.”
In its fiscal Q3 results announcement last month, Rémy Cointreau pulled its top line closer to year-on-year parity, with fiscal 2026 (which runs to the end of March) sitting at almost 2% down after its first nine months.
