Pernod Ricard has partnered Havana Club with Nigerian singer Burna Boy for a limited-edition bottle of the Cuban rum brand’s seven-year-old expression in 12 markets.
The ‘Havana Club x Burna Boy’ pack, comprising a label featuring artwork “inspired by the traditional cultural headgear found in south Nigeria”, rolls out this month to countries including Germany, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the brand’s domestic market. Duration or quantities were not disclosed.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has seen his 2019 duet, ‘Location’ with grime artist Dave, rack up almost 330m listens on Spotify. He also won the Grammy for ‘Best World Music’ album last year.
Havana Club International is a joint venture between Pernod and state-owned Cuba Ron.
