Pernod Ricard is poised to debut a ‘vintage’ line from Havana Club, the first year-statement iteration from a Cuban rum brand.

Havana Club Vintage 2007 has been chosen to mark the founding of the San José distillery 16 years ago. Initially launched domestically last year at the Habano cigar festival. a total of 1,000 units will go on sale in September.
Among the markets targeted by the age-statemented rum will be Havana Club’s largest, Germany, France and the UK. In mainland Europe, the SRP has been set at EUR390 [US$420] per bottle.
Speaking exclusively to Global Drinks Intel today, the head of Pernod Ricard’s Havana Club International joint venture, Christian Barré, said that all of the liquid in the limited edition was produced at the facility in 2007. The move also signals the start of a year-statemented range from Havana Club, Barré added, although specific details were not disclosed.
Havana Club International is overseen by Pernod Ricard with state-owned Corporación Cuba Ron handling the production side. Cuba Ron also partners with Diageo for the Santiago de Cuba brand and with Moët Hennessy for Eminente.
Earlier this week, Pernod Ricard announced a stake purchase in peanut butter-flavoured American whiskey Skrewball.
