Puerto Rico’s Destilería Serrallés has started the recruitment process for its next CEO following the retirement of Philippe Brechot.
The executive (below), who had overseen the Don Q rum brand owner since March 2017, stepped away at the end of last month. Serrallés’ board is in the process of looking for a successor to take the position of CEO.
Prior to taking the reins almost nine years ago, Brechot previously worked for Moët Hennessy as export director for champagne mark Veuve Clicquot (1990-97), before spending 12 years with Diageo, rising to be GM for Colombia before heading to Heineken to assume the same role, albeit on a consultancy basis.
From 2010 to 2015, he was William Grant & Sons’ Latin America MD, heading to Serrallés two years later.
“Brechot led a period of transformation and growth, guiding Serrallés with vision and determination through significant challenges such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and the pandemic, while driving the rapid development of the company, its brand portfolio, and its international positioning,” the company said.
Two months ago, the company launched the Double-Aged Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish extension of Don Q in the US through its owned distribution subsidiary, Serrallés USA.
