The Chase family has returned to distilling in Herefordshire, England and prepared the launch of Rosemaund Farm Whisky.
The development, announced today (17 September), comes after Diageo’s decision earlier this year to move production of Chase-branded spirits from the county to Scotland. The family, who founded Chase Distillery on their Rosemaund Farm in 2008 before selling to Diageo in 2020, is releasing a ten-year-old single malt, produced using barley grown on the farm.
According to the family, 2,700 bottles will be available via an online ballot, with each 47% ABV spirit priced at GBP126 (US$172).
Spirits consultant Tristan Stephenson has joined the business as master blender, while film director Guy Ritchie will collaborate through his WildKitchen food and drink construct at the farm. Co-founder James Dashwood Chase said the aim is to create a whisky “unmistakably English,” rooted in Herefordshire’s agricultural heritage.
In April, Compass Box unveiled a consumer-facing ballot for a newly launched English whisky to mark St George’s Day and support attempts to secure ‘geographical indication’ status for the sub-category.
