Missouri-based distiller & brand owner Luxco has successfully completed an ESG project in Kenya through a tie-up with retired American footballer Chris Long.
The company, which was acquired by MGP Ingredients almost three years ago, leveraged its Ross & Squib Distillery in Indiana to help secure a safe water supply for around 1,600 residents in Oloile in the country’s Kajiado County. Centred around the digging of an 80-metre-deep borehole well, the work also included the construction late last year of a storage tank, distribution points and refillable water trough.
The undertaking was handled by Well Aware, a partner of Long’s namesake NGO’s ‘Waterboys’ initiative.
“We are grateful we were able to make such a big difference in the lives of so many through this successful partnership with Waterboys and the Chris Long Foundation,” said Ross & Squibb brand manager Allison O’Brien. “We are fortunate to have a clean water source supplying our … distillery … and we take pride in our mission to help others get access to safe water.

As well as Ross & Squibb, which produces the Remus and Rossville Union American whiskey brands, Luxco also owns Lux Row Distillers and Limestone Branch Distillery, both in Kentucky, and Destiladora González Lux in Mexico.
Long, who won the Super Bowl twice with different teams – the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles – retired in 2019.
