California’s The Wine Group has added another six US states to its distribution arrangement with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.
The pair, which announced a strengthening of their “decades-long relationship” to include 11 more states in March, will add six further markets, commencing next month. Details about who The Wine Group’s distributor is in the states currently were not disclosed.
The states, all of which are “open markets” (as opposed to ‘Control States’) comprise Hawaii, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and North and South Dakota.
Privately-owned The Wine Group, which has production facilities in New York and Australia as well as in California, owns around 60 brands, including Cupcake, Franzia and Charles Smith Wines.
Forecasts from The International Organisation of Vine & Wine in November estimated that the US’s wine harvest last year will come in at around the same volume level as 2019’s 25.6m hectolitres.
