Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is set to strengthen its presence in the “Atlantic Basin” through the purchase of the WEBB Banks distribution business.
The move, for an undisclosed sum, will see the Miami-headquartered business come into Southern Glazer’s operations at the end of this month. WEBB Banks, which handles distribution for the likes of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Jägermeister and Treasury Wine Estates’ Penfolds brand, covers the Caribbean, Central & South America as well as the regions’ Global Travel Retail channel and cruise sector.
“This acquisition provides another connection point for Southern Glazer’s and our valued suppliers who are looking for expert route-to-market capabilities across the Atlantic Basin,” said Southern Glazer’s ‘east region’ president, Scott Oppenheimer. “Combining the strength of our supply chain and logistics expertise with WEBB Banks’ strong customer relationships and knowledge of the market makes this acquisition an absolute game changer for our suppliers.”
Webb, which commenced operations in 2007, merged with Banks Channel seven years ago. With a presence in 34 markets and distribution arrangements with around 200 brand owners, the company is “the largest wine and spirits distributor in the Pan-Caribbean market”, according to its new owner.
Late last year, Southern Glazer’s added 15 more US states to its 28-strong distribution partnership with Hotaling & Co.
