Republic National Distributing Co has moved beyond its joint-venture arrangement with Young’s Market Co through an outright takeover of the western-focused distributor.
The partnership, which took effect three years ago, has been superseded by RNDC’s acquisition of the remaining 50% of Young’s from its parent, Young’s Holding. Financial details around the purchase earlier this month were not disclosed.
The move strengthens RNDC’s presence in the US, building on its combination in late 2017 with Breakthru Beverage Group. Young’s concentrates its distribution operations in nine western states, including California, Oregon and Alaska. The two companies have also jointly run a JV in Idaho.
“Since joining RNDC, Young’s Market Co has made a significant impact on our business,” said CEO Christopher Underwood. “This acquisition will open the door to further investment in our Western region operations.”
The newly-enlarged group now serves “almost 90% of the US market volume”.
