Pernod Ricard’s Global Travel Retail division has opened its fourth branded outlet in China’s island province – and GTR hub – Hainan.
Following the commencement of trading at a Pernod Ricard-dedicated store in Hainan’s Haikou Mova Mall in June, the company has confirmed another site, this time in the CDF Haikou International Duty-Free Shopping Complex. The store, which has been set up in conjunction with China Duty Free Group, features the use of AI to promote brands including Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and The Glenlivet Scotch whiskies as well as Cognac flagship Martell.
The “portfolio boutique” offers tasting opportunities in a “VIP” area for CDFG’s platinum-and-above members as well as gift wrapping for purchases. According to Pernod Ricard, Hainan “is set to become the world’s largest travel retail destination, with an estimated US$46.5bn in sales by 2025”.
Earlier this month, the group unveiled an ultra-premium play by its Beefeater gin brand: Beefeater Crown Jewel debuted in 16 markets at an SRP of just under $70 per 1-litre bottle.
