Molson Coors Beverage Co has launched a new beer under its Carling portfolio that revives the brand’s original name, Carling Black Label.

The 4.7%-ABV “premium British lager” will be available to the UK’s off-premise channel through wholesale, grocery-multiple and convenience operators from 16 March. Carling Black Label will go on sale in four-packs of 56.8cl cans and ten-packs of 44cl cans.

The SRP was not disclosed, but Molson Coors said the NPD “offers the opportunity to trade up to a premium British lager with the quality assurance of a trusted brand”. The move will be supported by a consumer marketing campaign that will feature PR alongside social and influencer engagement.

Carling Black Label was the name originally given to Carling, but it was shortened in the “late” 1990s.

“Carling Black Label is a full-flavoured lager designed for today’s beer market,” said Molson Coors’ UK sales director, Kevin Fawell. “We’re confident it will resonate with both those who remember the name and those discovering it for the first time.

“To be able to expand the Carling offering for our customers is a really exciting opportunity for us to reach new and existing Carling drinkers.”

In the third quarter of 2025 (to the end of September), Molson Coors booked a fifth consecutive quarter of declining sales, although the group noted that the performance “aligned with our expectations”.
