Single malt producer Isle of Raasay Distillery has secured a presence in global travel retail for its namesake brand through an agreement with Monarq Group.
The distiller, situated on an island off the west coast of Scotland, will utilise Monarq’s importation, distribution and marketing capabilities in the US, Caribbean and Latin American GTR markets. The move comes as consumers in the channel exhibit “increasing interest and curiosity … for new frontiers when it comes to premium whiskies”, according to Monarq MD Robert de Monchy.
Founded ten years ago, Isle of Raasay Distillery’s production facility on the Hebridean island commenced operations in September 2017. Its flagship single malt Scotch whisky is available online in the UK at GBP55 [US$70] per bottle.
Last month, Kilchoman Distillery, based on the island of Islay nearby, teamed with Sipwell Brands to head to GTR “across multiple international markets”.
