New Zealand’s Indevin Group has lined up the current head of domestic peer Silver Fern Farms to become its next CEO.
The Villa Maria wine producer & brand owner will see its founder, Duncan McFarlane, retire after 20 years as its leader early next year. Replacing him will be Simon Limmer, who has been CEO of meat producer Silver Fern since early 2018.

McFarlane, who will move to the group’s board, founded Indevin in 2003.
“Limmer has a clear affinity with New Zealand primary industries and delivering premium New Zealand brands internationally, both of which are critical to the next chapter of Villa Maria and Indevin Group’s growth strategy,” said Indevin chair Greg Tomlinson.
Villa Maria is the largest New Zealand wine brand by value, according to figures cited by its owner earlier this year. Vindevin also claims to be the country’s largest wine producer.
