Bacardi has opened a ‘Whisky Emporium’ at Tokyo Narita International Airport to offer an “immersive” in-shop engagement.

The outlet (below), run in collaboration with Japanese duty-free retailer NAA Retailing Corp, showcases Bacardi’s scotch brands, including Dewar’s, Aberfeldy, Royal Brackla and Aultmore. The ‘Whisky Emporium’ will feature a tasting bar and gifting area, as well as an interactive digital screen designed to “enhance the experience”.

The recently-launched Dewar’s Double Double 21-Year-Old Stone Toasted expression will be exclusively available at the shop, located in Terminal 1.

“We are thrilled to bring this new Whisky Emporium to Tokyo Narita, one of the world’s busiest travel hubs,” said Bacardi’s GTR director for AMEA, Sam Pickard. “With passenger numbers surging by 22% last year and Japan ranking as the seventh-largest whisky market globally, Narita is the ideal location for our latest whisky experience.”

Last year, Bacardi released details of a trio of upgrades across its scotch production estate. The investment covered the construction of three extra warehouses at the group’s blending and maturation facility in Poniel in the south of the country. The expansion increased the site’s footprint by “over” 15%.
