Around a third of wine drinkers in the US face a “potential challenge” in the coming months, with their appetite to moderate alcohol levels going against their preference to drink wine in the winter months, according to a survey.
Wine technology company Coravin commissioned a survey of 2,000 LDA (legal drinking age) consumers in the market that ran in mid-October. The results, published this week, indicate that 34% enjoy consuming wine during the winter, while 86% agreed that “moderation is important when it comes to their alcohol intake”.
Coravin also highlighted that “most respondents” said they “hit their moderation era” when they are 29 years old.
Other notable findings from the survey show that 66% are looking for more variety in their wine choices, while only 41% believe that quality is more important than quantity.
Coravin is leveraging the survey to highlight its wine preservation portfolio, which eliminates the need to remove the cork from a bottle.
Late last year, the head of Vinexpo show organiser Vinexposium flagged a raft of major challenges facing wine producers operating at the US$8.75-or-less end of the per-bottle retail price ladder.
