‘By continuing to invest in places like Williamsburg, we reaffirm our longstanding commitment to the future of American manufacturing.’

The US division of AB InBev has confirmed that the next funding injection from its ‘Brewing Futures’ programme will be a US$5.8m spend on a facility in Virginia.

The investment in Williamsburg will support the production of Michelob Ultra, although Anheuser-Busch did not specify how, exactly. Funds will also go towards creating a ‘technical skills training centre’ for employees – one of 15 being opened across the US.

‘Brewing Futures’ was launched last year to create and sustain manufacturing jobs for Anheuser-Busch employees. The initiative initially promised a $300m investment for the Bud Light brewer’s US manufacturing operations across 2025 and 2026, which was doubled to $600m last month.

“This investment in our Williamsburg Brewery allows us to continue producing the highest-quality, American beers we have crafted for generations, while supporting jobs and economic growth in the communities where we operate,” said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth. “By continuing to invest in places like Williamsburg, we reaffirm our longstanding commitment to the future of American manufacturing and to supporting veterans.”

The news follows a similar announcement from Anheuser-Busch last week, when the Missouri-headquartered division detailed a $5m investment in its Columbus, Ohio brewery. In January, a $30m operational upgrade was revealed for a Jacksonville, Florida brewery and canning plant.
