The US division of A-B InBev has announced a US$5m investment in its Columbus, Ohio brewery, the latest spend from the group’s ‘Brewing Futures’ initiative.
The funds, announced today (13 May), will be used to increase production of Michelob Ultra and Michelob Ultra Zero in Columbus, although the brewer did not specify the size of the volume rise. Anheuser-Busch is also planning to open a ‘technical skills training centre’ at the site “to support the next generation of manufacturing professionals”.
The training centre is one of 15 that the Stella Artois brand owner has pledged to open in the US to upskill employees on its “mechanical and electrical systems”.
“This investment in our Columbus Brewery strengthens our ability to brew the highest-quality American beers … while creating and sustaining jobs in the communities where we operate,” said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth. “By continuously investing in our facilities and people, we are proud to help drive economic growth in communities like Columbus and reinforce our unwavering commitment to the future of American manufacturing.”
Last month, the Budweiser brewer announced it was doubling the investment commitment in ‘Brewing Futures’ to US$600m. Today’s investment forms a part of that total.
