Messe Düsseldorf has appointed Frank Schindler as director of ProWein Düsseldorf, effective from 15 October.
Schindler (below) replaces Peter Schmitz, who pivoted to head of international participations and services at the exhibition organiser in May, having acted as ProWein’s director for the last two years. The new director will lead the project team responsible for the annual three-day trade show in the German city, as well as the six international ProWein World trade fairs in Asia and South America.
He will work within the division overseen by Marius Berlemann, COO of Messe Düsseldorf, and report directly to executive director of trade fairs, Michael Degen. Schindler’s remit also covers the event’s global strategic positioning and international marketing.
He previously served as MD at Austrian winery Esterhazy and at Vinum Weinhandel in South Tyrol for six years each.
The appointment follows ProWein’s strategic repositioning, which was announced last month. The next edition of ProWein Düsseldorf is scheduled for 15–17 March 2026.
