Education has become one of the bar industry’s most valuable currencies. As cocktail culture evolves, bartenders are expected to go far beyond mixing drinks.

Today’s professionals balance technical skill, creativity, guest experience, leadership and an understanding of shifting consumer trends. Continuous learning is no longer optional – it’s essential for refining craft, building sustainable careers and staying competitive in a fast-moving industry.

This commitment to professional development sits at the heart of Bar Convent London 2026, where education forms a central pillar of the two-day programme at Tobacco Dock. Bartenders, drinks brands, buyers and hospitality leaders will gather for seminars, tastings, demonstrations and workshops, exploring the full spectrum of modern bar work.

Guided by Education Director Elliot Ball, the programme emphasises practical, applied knowledge. Participants will taste, experiment and discuss, covering flavour development, cocktail technique, bar management, leadership, team dynamics and wellbeing behind the bar.

The education board – including Jack Sotti, La’Mel Clarke, and Maria Kontorravdis – ensures content is relevant to today’s challenges, while speakers such as Jordan Duncan, Mike Pendergast, Sam Boevey, Camille Vidal and Matthew Hastings bring fresh perspectives on everything from collaborative communication and the neurobiology of flavour to mindful drinking, creative competitions and practical skills like mobile photography for social media.

Mindful drinking is a particular highlight. Camille Vidal’s low- & no-alcohol programme explores the growing demand for inclusive menus and demonstrates how flavour, texture and balance can be developed without alcohol – reflecting the evolving expectations of modern guests.

BCB London 2026 is also essential for business. The show floor provides unmatched opportunities to connect with brands, buyers, and international operators, discover new products, and identify emerging market trends before they hit mainstream menus. Demonstrations, competitions and tastings offer inspiration, while informal networking fosters relationships that can drive collaboration and business growth.

From high-precision flair performances in partnership with the World Flair Association to the returning ‘Pouring Contest’, the event showcases that technical mastery and creativity remain central to both service and success.

BCB London 2026 reflects a broader shift in hospitality: bartending is not just a trade, but a profession shaped by ongoing learning, collaboration and craft. With world-class education, inspiring speakers and business opportunities all under one roof, the event is a must-attend for anyone looking to grow their craft, network and business in the global bar industry.

Mark your calendar: Monday 11 to Tuesday 12 May 2026, Tobacco Dock, London.
