Heineken has allocated US$2.75bn for a number of expansion projects across Mexico, including the construction of a new brewery in the country.
Speaking at President Claudia Sheinbaum’s daily press briefing on Wednesday (11 June), Heineken Mexico CEO Oriol Bonaclocha announced plans for a new facility in south-eastern Mexico. The plant, to be built in Kanasín, Yucatán, will launch with an annual production capacity of 4m hectolitres.
Bonaclocha added that the investment will roll out between now and 2028 and is expected to create 300 direct jobs, 2,500 indirect jobs and around 2,000 temporary jobs in construction.
“We have a clear vision,” he said. “We trust in Mexico, in its people, and in everything we can build together … because here we will continue making history and providing moments of joy.”
The announcement follows a similar move by AB InBev which in April pledged over $3.6bn in investments within Mexico.
