The president of Heineken’s operations in its ‘Americas’ reporting region is heading to pastures new in one month’s time.

Marc Busain (above), who has headed up the regional division since mid-2015, will start as CEO of Lipton Teas & Infusions on 1 October, the brewer said earlier today (1 September). The move will bring to an end Busain’s 30-plus years with Heineken, during which he worked in Burundi, Egypt, France and Mexico before settling in Miami just over a decade ago.

“Under his leadership, the Americas region doubled its revenue, operating profit and net profit,” Heineken said. “Both Mexico and Brazil emerged as solid profit contributors, playing a vital role in the region’s overall performance.

“Marc was instrumental in the acquisition of Brazil Kirin [in 2017] and its integration with our Brazilian operations, which is now our largest market for both Heineken and Amstel, and a significant profit driver.”

The company has yet to appoint a replacement, which will be announced “in due course”.

Heineken has four regional presidents in its executive team, with Busain sitting alongside Glenn Caton (Europe), Guillaume Duverdier (Africa & Middle East) and Jacco can der Linden (Asia Pacific).

In results for the first six months of this year, the company reported a 2.1% increase in sales versus the corresponding period a year earlier. The performance was just behind beer rival AB InBev, which was up 2.3% over the same half-year period.
