Ireland-based C&C Group has hired ex-Molson Coors Beverage Co finance manager Adam Phillips as its next CFO.

Phillips (below) will start at the Magners cider brand owner in April. He joins following three years as CFO of UK flooring distributor Headland Group.

The confirmation to Global Drinks Intel of the appointment today (9 February) follows the news in September that Dublin-headquartered C&C was on the hunt for a new CFO.

Phillips’s CV includes eight years at consultancy firm KPMG, where he trained as a chartered accountant. He moved to Molson Coors in 2010, working up to senior commercial finance manager. He also spent six years at UK motoring retailer Halfords.

Phillips succeeds Andrew Andrea (below), who has been group CFO for two years and is joining Domino’s Pizza Group as CFO. He steps down on 13 March.

Andrea joined C&C in 2024 following 21 years at Marston’s, which he joined as divisional finance director in 2002, working up to CFO in 2009 and finally CEO in 2021 – a position he held at the UK on-premise multiple for two years.

In its six-month results to the end of August, the Tennent’s lager owner’s sales declined by 4% compared to the corresponding period a year earlier. C&C said the performance reflected “the impact of lower distribution revenues following the previously disclosed transfer of control of AB InBev off-trade beer distribution in the Republic of Ireland and the planned exit of some lower margin business in the period”.

In 2024, C&C shuttered a distribution site in Scotland “to service our customers more effectively”. Operations at the site in Newbridge, on the western outskirts of Edinburgh, transferred to C&C’s facility in Cambuslang near Glasgow.
