SpiritsEurope director general Mark Titterington has left the trade association after just 13 months, handing the reins to former officeholder Paul Skehan.
Skehan (below), who led the Brussels-based association from 2011 to 2017, left SpiritsEurope to join PepsiCo. He started as the soft drinks major’s senior director of EU public policy, government affairs & communications and worked up to VP of EU government affairs, a position he left in May.
SpiritsEurope has not disclosed the reason for Titterington’s departure. According to LinkedIn, he left the association this month. Titterington took up the post, which had been vacant for six months, on 1 September last year. His predecessor, Ulrich Adam, spent eight years as director general, having succeeded Skehan in 2018.
In a statement today (12 October), SpiritsEurope president Patrick Piana said Skehan “combines a unique blend of sector knowledge, association leadership and in-house corporate experience”.
“At a time of considerable change for Europe and for our industry, Paul’s experience, judgement and understanding of both SpiritsEurope, the political landscape and the business environment will be tremendous assets to SpiritsEurope and our members,” Piana said.
“I would also like to express our sincere thanks to Mark Titterington for his leadership, commitment and contribution to SpiritsEurope. He leaves the organisation with strong foundations for the future, and, on behalf of our members, I wish him every success in his next chapter.”
