The CEO of the World Spirits Alliance, Helen Medina, has revealed she has left the organisation after two years at the helm.

Medina, who was interviewed by Global Drinks Intel’s editor, Olly Wehring, earlier this year, joined the industry-funded trade association in April 2024 after spending seven years as Nestlé’s government & multilateral relations senior public affairs manager. In a post on LinkedIn, she announced that today (31 July) would be her last day.

While her successor has not yet been announced, Medina said she would “remain engaged to support the transition to new leadership”.

“Today marks the end of my tenure as CEO of the World Spirits Alliance,” she wrote. “When I joined, the goal was clear: create and establish a global trade association that could advance the interests of the international spirits sector.

“Together, we did just that.

“I leave incredibly proud of what we have built and grateful to the members, colleagues, and friends who made it possible. While I am excited for the next chapter, I will remain engaged to support the transition to new leadership.”

A World Spirits Alliance spokesperson told Global Drinks Intel: “We are immensely grateful for [Medina’s] foundational leadership and significant contributions since the organisation’s inception, helping to build the WSA into the respected global voice it is today.

“We thank Helen for her dedication and wish her every success in her future endeavors. The WSA remains focused on advancing its mission on behalf of its members worldwide, and further details regarding the appointment of a new CEO will be announced in due course.”
