Global travel retail trade organisation Tax Free World Association has followed last week’s announcement of its MD’s departure with a new appointment at the helm.
Charlène Tourneaux (below) will assume the role on Wednesday (15 July), the entity confirmed today. The appointment follows the immediate departure of Franck Waechter, the news of which was shared by TFWA at the start of last week.
The switch to TFWA comes five months after Tourneaux left Brown-Forman, where she had worked for almost 12 years. Her time with the Jack Daniel’s owner was spent in finance-related roles, the last one of which, from mid-2024 to February this year, was as regional finance director for GTR operations alongside the ‘Middle East, Africa, India, Turkey & CIS’ region.
“We are delighted to welcome Charlène as our MD,” said TFWA president Sarah Branquinho. “Her passion for the duty-free and travel-retail industry, her expertise in the dynamics of the channel and her understanding of the role of the Association in shaping the industry make Charlène a stand-out choice for this role.
“Charlène brings commitment and tangible energy to the role, and we very much look forward to working with her as TFWA continues to evolve.”
