‘Fancy a nonnie?’ – a confident new way to choose alcohol-free.

A new UK alcohol-free beer brand, Nonnie, is entering the fast-growing no- & low-alcohol category with a clear mission: to make alcohol-free beer feel like a positive choice, not a compromise.

Founded by four siblings and a close family member, Nonnie was born from personal experience. When the founders’ youngest brother became unable to drink alcohol due to illness, they struggled to find alcohol-free beers that delivered on flavour, quality and character. What was missing wasn’t just taste, it was identity.

Rather than accept the status quo, the family set out to create something better: an alcohol-free beer with craft credentials, emotional resonance and a sense of occasion.

“Nonnie is about changing the narrative around not drinking,” says co-founder Alex McFetrich. “We wanted to create a beer that people genuinely want to drink, one that stands confidently alongside traditional craft beer, without apology.”

Brewed at a small, sustainability-focused craft brewery in the north of England, Nonnie’s debut pale ale, Day Breaker, is made using water drawn from the brewery’s own well. With water making up 95% of the beer, the result is clean, crisp and refreshing, designed for modern lifestyles that move seamlessly between work, exercise, socialising and downtime.

Day Breaker is positioned as a versatile, sessionable beer: ideal for anyone seeking full flavour without the effects of alcohol.

The brand’s tone is intentionally playful and inclusive. Early drinkers have already adopted the phrase “Fancy a Nonnie?” as an easy, stigma-free way to suggest going alcohol-free, signalling a shift in how mindful drinking is discussed and enjoyed.

As global demand for alcohol-free options continues to accelerate, Nonnie is carving out space at the intersection of craft beer culture, wellness and community, with growing interest from independent venues, hospitality operators and lifestyle-led retailers.
