Hijos de Rivera has secured pole position for the non-alcoholic extension of its Estrella Galicia beer brand at Brazil’s MotoGP from this year.

The family-owned Spanish brewer has snagged “title sponsorship” for the alcohol-free SKU, which it also holds in Spain. Subsequently, Estrella Galicia 0.0 will feature on all GP branding at Brazil’s Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia, Goiás, in March.

Estrella Galicia 0.0 is also the “official beer” of the MotoGP World Championship.

Financial details about the revised partnership were not disclosed.

According to Hijos de Rivera’s executive president, Ignacio Rivera, Brazil is a “key country in our international growth strategy”.

“As a company, we have strong ties to Brazil, a market with a long-standing beer tradition, and one where we have a growing presence thanks to our firm commitment to the country through our own subsidiary,” he added.

The championship will return to Brazil for the first time in 22 years this year.

In November, Heineken expanded its Formula 1 arrangement with a multi-year extension of the current China and Las Vegas Grand Prix headline sponsorships – the latter being sponsored by Heineken Silver – along with the addition of the Brazilian, Spanish and British races.
