Spiribam has purchased a majority stake in Alcools de Luxe, owner of the Le Philtre vodka, and will integrate the brand into its commercial and marketing organisation.

Founders Guillaume Rappeneau, Charles Beigbeder and Frédéric Beigbeder will remain involved with Le Philtre alongside Spiribam to support international expansion, while the brand’s MD, Camille Sebbag-Barjon, will also join the company. Financial details about the transaction were not disclosed.

Launched in 2020, Le Philtre is a vodka positioned within what the start-up describes as the “conscious” premium segment. The brand counts nearly 300 customers in France, including the Ritz Paris and La Grande Épicerie, and is listed with global travel retail operator Lagardère in French airports and in Air France via its 35cl ‘Petit Philtre’ pack offering.

“Welcoming Le Philtre into our portfolio is part of a broader strategic commitment to diversification,” said Spiribam CEO Grégoire Gueden. “We will mobilise our commercial strength, marketing expertise and international network to support its growth and visibility worldwide.”

Spiribam, which is owned by French family-owned conglomerate Groupe Bernard Hayot (GBH), markets Rhum Clément and Rhum JM from Martinique, Bounty, Chairman’s Reserve and Admiral Rodney from Saint Lucia, as well as Arcane and Beach House from Mauritius.

In 2023, GBH made an alcohol distribution acquisition in the UK, purchasing Mangrove for an undisclosed fee.
