Viña Concha y Toro has lined up the expansion of its flagship Casillero del Diablo brand to include cans for two varietals in the UK.
The pair chosen are the cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc, both of which are popular with UK consumers, according to the brand owner. The red is “the UK’s number one cabernet sauvignon”, while the white is “the best-selling sauvignon blanc from anywhere apart from New Zealand” in the market.
Available now through on-premise multiple Tesco, via its smaller ‘Express’ stores, the 18.7cl cans carry an SRP of GBP2.90 (US$3.90) each.
Also announced by Concha’s UK unit this week is the addition of a red blend to Casillero’s BeLight lower-abv line. At 8% ABV, the cabernet sauvignon, carmenere and syrah blend (above) will sit alongside BeLight Sauvignon Blanc and BeLight Rosé in the off-premise, this time through rival multiple Sainsbury’s.
Earlier this month, the wider group booked a 3.2% increase in quarterly sales to the end of June, with the UK credited with driving an 8.1% top-line rise in Europe over the three-month period.
