Rémy Cointreau has appointed former Suntory Global Spirits (then Beam Suntory) North America president Jessica Spence to its board of directors.

Spence (below) will replace Olivier Jolivet, the CEO of Singapore-based consumer group Como Group, as an independent member of the brand owner’s board. She will also succeed Jolivet, who had sat on the board since 2013, on the company’s corporate social & environmental responsibility committee.

Spence stepped down from the previously-named Beam Suntory last year and is currently working as president of Edgewell Personal Care’s North America business.

Before her near-five years with the Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark owner, starting as president of brands in late 2019 before spending 17 months as North America lead, Spence worked in the brewing industry for almost 15 years, first with SABMiller prior to its 2016 acquisition by AB InBev, before spending seven-and-a-half years (2012-2019) at Carlsberg, where she rose to be chief commercial officer.

“Her appointment will ensure a stronger representation on the board of directors of executives with extensive experience in the US market and the wine and spirits industry,” Rémy Cointreau said today.

The company’s board consists of 12 members and three non-voting members.

Earlier this month, departing CEO Eric Vallat admitted that the brand owner “may have made mistakes” in the years since the Covid pandemic.
