US-based contract distiller Whiskey House of Kentucky has partnered with contractor The Koetter Group to build a dozen rickhouses over the next six years.
Situated alongside on Whiskey House of Kentucky’s distillery in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, each warehouse will have seven floors and hold just over 48,000 barrels. The rickhouses will utilise ‘K-RAX’ barrel storage technology, which according to the companies “increases maturation performance and airflow” and “improves worker and contractor safety”.
Since commencing operations in July last year, Whiskey House has produced in the region of 97,000 barrels, 56 mashbills and 59 different recipes.

Whiskey House’s senior team founded The Bardstown Bourbon Co, which now sits within the Lofted Spirits entity since its acquisition in early 2022.
Last week, US-based WhistlePig Whiskey recruited Charles Gibb from mixer business Fever-Tree to become its CEO.
