A particularly weak sugar harvest in Cuba this year is unlikely to impact Pernod Ricard's Havana Club rum brand, a spokesperson has told Global Drinks Intel.In an article published by The Guardian in the UK late last week, the 2025 sugar production by state-run monopoly Azcuba was estimated to have totalled around 165,000 tonnes. Citing a report by Reuters, The Guardian claimed that annual harvests on the island in the late 1980s brought in about 8m tonnes.The distillation of rum in Cuba uses molasses, which is a syrup by-product from the sugar-making process.When contacted by Global Drinks
