English wine producer Nyetimber has secured ‘official sparkling wine producer’ status with UK governing body British Cycling for another year.
The arrangement, financial details for which were not disclosed, will allow the company’s namesake brand to appear at events including June’s Lloyds Tour of Britain for women, with the men’s race taking place in September. Magnums of Nyetimber will be awarded to stage winners of both races, while the sparkling wine will also feature at British Cycling’s awards evening in October.
“We are really excited to become the ‘official sparkling wine’ to British Cycling,” said owner & CEO Eric Heerema. “Nyetimber has a long history of partnering with iconic British sporting institutions, and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to engage further with cyclists of all abilities across the country.”
The company, which owns 11 vineyards in the south of England, sponsored the Tour of Britain last year, while also partnering with Team GB at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Just over a year ago, Nyetimber spent almost US$90m on English whisky producer The Lakes Distillery.
