The UK distribution of Ron Barceló is set to shift to Illva Saronno, with the Disaronno liqueur owner’s UK unit lined up to handle the rum brand.
Disaronno International UK will handle the distribution of a portfolio that includes Imperial Premium Blend 40 Aniversario, Imperial Onyx, Imperial, Gran Añejo, Blanco Añejado and Dorado Añejado. The Dominican brand was previously distributed in the UK by Emporia but will now target on-premise growth through the tie-up.
A spokesperson told Global Drinks Intel that there is no end date for the distribution agreement between the two companies. A 70cl bottle of Ron Barceló can be purchased via Master of Malt for an SRP of GBP30.75 (US$41).
Ron Barceló aims to “continuously attract new consumers” and “therefore, it is an honour to expand the reach of our portfolio in the UK, a competitive market with a population that is very conscious in valuing high premium products, to offer our unique consumption experience,” said Ron Barceló’s global director of business expansion, Vinicio Subero.
In March last year, Disaronno International UK took over the domestic distribution of the RyeLaw scotch whisky brand, InchDairnie Distillery’s debut release. Meanwhile, earlier this month, the scotch distiller merged with MacDuff International Scotch Whisky to form InchDairnie Whisky.
