Brown-Forman has appointed Anton Skobelev as its commercial director for global travel retail (GTR).
The move came into effect at the start of last month. Nobody was immediately available at the Jack Daniel’s owner to clarify who previously held the role or if it has been newly created.
Skobelev (above) joined Brown-Forman in 2021 as a sales director in Russia. A year later, he became GM of the group’s RTD division in the US and Canada, based in Louisville, Kentucky. The newly-appointed director previously worked at Grolsch, SABMiller, ABInbev Efes and Mondelez International, before joining Brown-Forman.
In his new role, he will be based in Amsterdam, where the company’s regional headquarters for Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific is located.
“We are delighted to welcome Anton to our global travel retail business and team,” said Skobolev’s lead and GTR MD, Matthew Hodges, who started in his position late last year. “His in-depth commercial experience and knowledge will position him well to further our GTR growth.”
The appointment comes two months after Brown-Forman announced it would reduce its workforce by 12%, accounting for almost 650 of its 5,400 employees.
Yesterday (5 March), the US spirits major posted a healthy set of results from the three months to the end of January, which pulled its fiscal 2025 into positive territory.
