The trade association for South Africa’s wine industry has released details of next year’s CapeWine exhibition in the country.
Wines of South Africa will host the 2025 show in Cape Town between 10 and 12 September. The event, which takes place every three years, has been described by the organisation as “the largest wine trade show in the Southern Hemisphere”.
Featuring the tagline ‘Our Warmest Welcome’, next year’s iteration will open to “trade professionals” for registration in the New Year.
“This tenth edition of our flagship trade event promises to be one of the best yet,” said WoSA CEO Siobhan Thompson. “Twenty five years after the first CapeWine was launched in 2000, it has grown exponentially and … has evolved to truly reflect what the South African wine industry is all about: the phenomenal wines that we produce, our wonderfully warm people, the dramatic and spectacular landscapes and the overall richness of our culture.
“I look forward to welcoming trade from around the world to join us for what will be an unforgettable experience.”
South Africa’s wine harvest has been in decline over the last three years, according to figures released earlier this month. Preliminary data from The International Organisation of Vine & Wine put the 2024 harvest at 8.8m hectolitres, a slip of 5.4% on the year prior and down by 18.5% on 2021’s high of 10.8m hectolitres.
