The first quarter of 2024 has just ended and as we await the latest results from publicly-listed beverage alcohol brand owners, Global Drinks Intel looks at the winners and losers across beer, spirits and wine in 2023.

The first quarter of 2024 has just ended and as we await the latest results from publicly-listed beverage alcohol brand owners, Global Drinks Intel looks at the winners and losers across beer, spirits and wine in 2023.

While size most certainly isn't everything, here's a look at the sales - in US$ bn - for last year from the listed alcohol companies that we cover. Unsurprisingly, Anheuser-Busch InBev dwarfs them all - after all, the group accounts for around one in every three beers consumed on the planet.Heineken completes a one-two for the brewers among us, followed by Diageo, which straddles beer and spirits, and then its spirits rival, Pernod Ricard. Closing out our top five is Molson Coors Beverage Co, although Carlsberg isn't that far behind in sixth place. Here's where things get complicated
