Seychelles-based rum distiller Takamaka has recruited a bar manager for its namesake brand’s home on the islands.
Edel Leech, who was raised in the UK and educated in the US, has “returned to her ancestral home” to take up the position at the brand’s Trois Frères Distillery in La Plaine St André on the main island of Mahé. Leech’s on-premise experience started in Texas, where she worked in a bar, before moving to other hospitality outlets including a high-end restaurant and an “exclusive” speakeasy”.

“Raising the bar for cocktails at La Plaine St André has long been a focus of ours,” said co-founder Bernard d’Offay.” We’ve been honoured to have hosted some amazing bars and bartenders from around the world over the last few years.
“With the appointment of Edel, we can now look forward to elevating our own offering and creating a truly sustainable drinks programme that showcases our award-winning rums.”
Takamaka was founded by the D’Offay brothers, Bernard and Richard, in 2002.
