In September, the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac [BNIC] reported that, while sales had “significantly increased” from summer 2020 onwards and that 2021 had been a record year, “from summer 2022 onwards, sales started to fall under the combined effect of the end of [US] government aid, distributors’ excess stocks on consumer markets, particularly the US, and the effects of inflation.
