Here’s a round-up of the new launches from spirits brand owners in the week commencing 28 August.

Bacardi Reserva Ocho Sevillian Orange Cask Finish

The third expression in Bacardi’s limited-edition cask finish will be followed by two more annually to 2025
  • Rum, aged for “at least” eight years, finished for three-to-six months in ex-Vino de Naranja casks, 45% ABV
  • Released in the US later this month [September] in both the off-premise and online
  • SRP of US$34.99 per 75cl bottle, available in limited – albeit unspecified – numbers

Destilería Orendain’s Ollitas Tequila portfolio

The debut of the Ollitas brand in the US will be handled by Miami-based Atomic Brands through a distribution partnership
  • Tequila, 100% agave, comprising a blanco [40% ABV], a reposado [41%] and a cristalino [also 40% ABV]
  • Rolling out to the US in the coming days, initially in ten markets prior to a wider roll-out next year
  • SRPs of US$29.99 per 75cl bottle of the blanco, $32.99 for the reposado and $39.99 for the cristalino

Catalyst Spirits’ Blackeye Gin

Catalyst Spirits, the company behind the Howler Head banana-flavoured Bourbon, has partnered with ex-rugby professionals James Haskell and Mike Tindall to bring a new gin to market in the UK
  • Gin, London Dry, UK, 40% ABV
  • Released in the UK this week through the off-premise channel with multiple retailer Sainsbury’s and online at Master of Malt
  • SRP of GBP35.95 [US$45.57] per 70cl bottle

Brown-Forman’s Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2023

  • American whisky, Kentucky Straight Bourbon, 12 years old, 48% ABV
  • On sale in the US since last week from selected off-premise outlets as well as via a national sweepstakes that runs until 31 August
  • SRP of US$169.99 per 75cl bottle, available in limited numbers

Angus Dundee Distillers’ Tomintoul cask finish single malts

The Pedro Ximénez, Merlot and White Port cask finish expressions are joined by four more in the no-age-statemented line from Tomintoul
  • Scotch whisky, single malts, Speyside, All carry a 40% ABV. Range comprises Caribbean Rum, Cognac, Merlot, Pedro Ximénez, Pinot Noir, Tawny Port and White Port cask finishes
  • Launching in the UK this month, in the off-premise through specialist spirits retailers as well as on Angus Dundee’s website
  • SRP of GBP43 [US$54] per 70cl bottle

Edrington’s The Macallan Colour Collection single malt series

The five-strong ‘Colour Collection’ marks The Macallan’s return to age statementing its iterations
  • Scotch whisky, single malts, 12-to-30 years old
  • Released next month exclusively in the Global Travel Retail channel including in The Macallan’s branded outlets
  • SRPs per unit are
  • 12 Years Old – US$80
  • 15 Years Old – $165
  • 18 Years Old – $350
  • 21 Years Old – $1,100
  • 30 Years Old – $4,455
