Heaven’s Door Spirits has revised plans to set up its own distillery in the US, selecting a new location in the state of Kentucky.

The company, a joint venture between Spirits Investment Partners and Bob Dylan, has identified a site in Pleasureville for the facility. The move follows the announcement seven years ago that a distillery would be built in Nashville, Tennessee, 200 miles south of Pleasureville.

Comprising two stillhouses as well as a visitor centre, the distillery, which has been “quietly under development since 2017”, will open to the public in September. Around 50 jobs will be created as a result.

Heaven’s Door has also confirmed the foundation of a “brand experience” in downtown Louisville in Kentucky. The building, which was formerly a church, will be home to “a small live music venue, a private event space and a restaurant and bar featuring one of the largest selections of American whiskeys in the country”.

Financial details behind the latest developments were not disclosed.

“With our distillery opening in Pleasureville, having our brand experience in Louisville made more sense,” said co-founder & CEO Marc Bushala. “We will use the Nashville property as the seat of The Heaven’s Door Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm which supports charities for the arts.”

In July last year, Heaven’s Door unveiled a ten-year-old Bourbon as the debut expression in the ‘Decade Series’ from its namesake American whiskey brand.
