Cognac producer & brand owner Camus has switched distribution partners in the UK.

The family-owned company, which has been in operation since the 1860s, has selected Speciality Brands to replace Whyte & Mackay in the market. London-based Speciality, which is the UK distributor for the AE Dor Cognac brand, will take over “all commercial and marketing activities” for Camus next month.

Details explaining why Camus has made the change were not disclosed.

According to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, the UK is the third-largest market in volume terms for the combined Armagnac & Cognac category. In 2021, sales in the country inched up 1% on the year prior to 588,000 nine-litre cases.

The UK has some way to go to catch China in second place, where volumes in the year totalled just under 3.5m cases,
