US spirits giant Sazerac Co is continuing the refresh of its distribution arrangements, announcing a major break with partner Republic National Distributing Co.

Almost five months ago, the Buffalo Trace brand owner selected two beer distributors to replace RNDC in the states of Colorado and Washington. The change was followed by news last week that Sazerac will move its portfolio of brands to a raft of different companies in around 28 states including California, Florida, Texas and Sazerac’s home state of Kentucky.

At the same time, the company intends to “set up its own brokerage operations” in seven of the country’s 17 control states, with Johnson Brothers acting as its control state brokerage in three more.

The switches, full details of which can be viewed here, should complete in time for the start of next month.

In June, privately-owned Sazerac brought its Irish whiskey brands, Paddy and Michael Collins, together through the acquisition of the Lough Gill Distillery in the northwest of the country.
