Bacardi is joining Pernod Ricard in a new Global Travel Retail shopping mall in Hainan with its first multi-brand outlet.
The ‘Fine Spirits Emporium’ began trading at the end of last month in CDF Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex. As well as its namesake brand, Bacardi will showcase the likes of Patron Tequila, Grey Goose vodka and Bombay Sapphire gin in the store.
The company utilises QR codes to provide shop visitors with brand information via a “mini programme” on China’s WeChat Social Media, instant messaging and mobile payment app. While the outlet will focus on Bacardi’s white spirits portfolio, one of its external windows has been given over to single malt Aberfeldy.
The shopping complex, which according to Bacardi is the world’s largest for duty-free sales at 280,000 square metres, opened for business on 28 October. The mall is also home to Pernod Ricard’s fourth store on the island province in the South China Sea.
